kids = courage

Amazing things really. The whole family went to the Troy, OH Strawberry Festival Soccer Invitational. Both Emma and Jesse’s team played. 2 games on Saturday, and 1 game on Sunday. That is, unless your progressed to the final in your division. Then you played 2 games on Sunday. In 90° heat. With no shade because trees get in the way on soccer fields.

So if you won enough you played in the championship.

Guess which team, Emma or Jesse’s progressed? Go on guess BOTH!!!

Guess which team lost in the finals?

Both!

Here's Emma's team waiting for their finals game.

Y
eah War Paint, that's right whachya gonna do about it huh? Huh? Yeah. That's right. Because unless you've been in a little thing we like to call the CHAMPIONSHIP you should just take a seat. In the back sucka!

As you can see by clicking on the chart below and looking next to the word "finalist", both teams lost by 1 goal.

Jesse’s game was particularly interesting. Jesse’s team scored first. Then the other team. 1-1.

Then Jesse scored! 2-1! Then they had a free kick and they got the biggest kid to kick from ~ 20 yards away.

And guess who blocked it? With his head? Right in front of the goal? Jesse!

I thought, that’s it, kid is gonna get carried out on their shoulders! But the other team scored and it was a 2-2 tie: OVERTIME!

Then the other team scored and it was over. So sad. But we had so much fun! These kids have so much courage that adults need to learn a thing or two about courage. From the kids!

Here are their trophies. Only the top 2 teams in each division got trophies!
